Diverse and Inclusive Books to Inspire Social Justice

Help me give my students inclusive and diverse books so that they can better understand the world we live in.

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Hall's classroom raised $562

My Students

My students are from Richmond, Virginia and will be virtual learning from home until February! They love to immerse themselves in graphic novels, write notes to each other, and incorporate movement into their learning. My students build thoughtful relationships with one another and are leaders for social justice and change.

Seventy-five percent of students are economically disadvantaged and have vocalized not having the supplies and materials they need at home to complete projects and school work.

They succeed in an organized learning environment and by working together to come to solutions for complex problems.

I am so thankful to have a new set of students who are eager to learn and create change!

My Project

These books will help my students with their reading ability and will have characters and stories that are diverse and inclusive. It is important for them to have access to books that have many different types of people and situations so that they can better understand the world they live in.

My students are agents of social justice and want to become the change they wish to see in this world.

I will be giving these books to students based on interest and reading ability. They will be given multiple books and have aligned reading and writing assignments. When they are finished with a book, the book will quarantine for two weeks before going home to another family. Students and families will be picking up these books and supplies from the school to adhere to social distancing rules.
