This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My class is filled with students that love to read. Our school uses Readers Workshop that has students practice new skills and strategies while they read their independent reading books. My students have been reading so many books that our classroom library is in need of some new books for them to pick from.

These high-interest, culturally diverse books will help students to connect to the text and have powerful book club discussions with their peers.

It is so important for students to have access to new books that they want to read. In addition these books written by diverse authors allows my students to not just read, but also connect with characters that they can identify with.
