This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Do you remember how tough it was to get through the Shakespeare drama your middle or high school teacher assigned? Understanding classic literature is still challenging to students, and with your donations my students will fortunately be able to have an engaging contemporary experience with the Bard without losing academic rigor! I am asking for a class set of No Fear Shakespeare: Romeo & Juliet, copies of the graphic novel, and sets of graphic novels with similar themes so that all students can enjoy the drama.

The donations to my classroom will help students make connections to Shakespeare by reading modern adaptations of Romeo & Juliet.

There are so many great recent Young Adult modernizations of the text, and I want groups of students to choose which novels they would like to read in literature circles. This will help improve their understanding of the original Shakespeare text, and their speaking, listening, and collaboration skills.
