Help me give my students a class set of the book James and the Giant Peach so that they can be introduced to different literature to help them think more deeply.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have 26 enthusiastic fourth graders, which include special education, magnet students, English Language Learners, and intervention students. These students are eager to learn new things every day.
Even though my students live in a community where they endure socioeconomic hardships, they come to school every day eager and ready to learn.
They attend a school in California which resides in a low-income neighborhood. Their school provides regular education and gifted/magnet education. However, my students attend regular education so they do not have access to all the materials and enrichment that the magnet students have.
My Project
The book, James and the Giant Peach will allow my students to have a new love for literature. It will also deepen their understanding of the new Common Core Standards through literature. They will also learn how to engage in small group instruction through the activities associated with the book
In addition, the book James and the Giant Peach will deepen their understanding of literature.
They will learn how to work together on a group project related to the Common Core Standards and present it to the classroom learning how to speak in front of an audience. My students get so excited when they get to read a new book.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
