This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
This year, I have the opportunity to work with students in grades K-5. Our students are very inquisitive and enjoy learning new things. I will be working with all students to incorporate science, technology, engineering, the arts, and math (STEAM) in my daily lessons to develop critical and creative thinking skills along with collaboration and communication.
As a past 5th grade teacher who has incorporated STEAM in the classroom, my students became incredibly engaged and immersed in the projects and also came up with new ways to solve the problems and/or used what we were doing to develop new products.
My Project
The materials listed for my project will be used to incorporate a STEAM approach into the learning experience. Students will be immersed in authentic STEAM experiences that prepare them for tomorrow's future. They will have the opportunity to use the materials to code, create, build, collaborate, and develop creative and critical thinking skills.
I believe project based learning is an integral part of the student learning profile.
The STEAM class will use tools like the ozobot to learn coding and enhance reading comprehension skills such summarizing to retell a story such as the The Three Little Pigs and the ozobot would be one of the main characters.
Students engaged in STEAM learning experiences apply life ready skills and core content knowledge across disciplines, participate in hands on learning, and broaden their interests and expand their talents in STEAM-related fields.
