My Project
Our students LOVE coming to the library, and picking out the books they enjoy is their favorite part of our library time together. Recently, a new trend has started in school libraries across the nation. Libraries are ditching the Dewey Decimal System and reorganizing their libraries by topics and genre. The space turns out being organized more like a bookstore, and less by an outdated numbering system.
This summer, we will be doing a major overhaul of our library organization.
As part of this project, we will need baskets galore. The baskets will help us achieve our goal in organizing our library in a more kid friendly/user friendly space. This will be especially helpful with our youngest students, and students with special needs. Having recently done the same project to the Middle School section of our library, I know this will be a success. Circulations have increased. And increased circulations mean our students are reading more!!! And that is the goal.
