I believe in doing what's best for all of our school's students in our library. The primary mission of the library is student access to books, freedom to read, and freedom to have full access to information. In our physical library, we have a health collection of over 20,000 books. Since 2021, we have started to make books "discoverable" for students so they can find what they want and need. Many books are front-facing in baskets in our Easy Fiction and Nonfiction areas so students can get excited to read them. If a student wants a book on dogs, that student can find those books easily now by looking in the "Dogs" bin. This continues to be an ongoing project. However, our fiction area is still organized by Dewey and this is making it difficult for students to find a "scary" book or an "adventure". They are all over the place because they are organized by the author's last names, and the only thing students can see are the spines of the books. This donation will help us get started in gentrifying the fiction section. We've got the baskets, but we need the labels and shelf markers from Demco, our library materials supplier. Thank you for your consideration.
