Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

During dyslexia interventions, students utilize many different tools to help them be successful. To keep organized, students use a 3-ring binder to hold all of their reading practice sheets. Each student needs a compact mirror to be able to watch his/her mouth as he/she repeats words during our "auditory discovery" part of the lesson cycle. Students use reading strips to help them to track their reading. I will utilize the pencil pouches to hold the mirrors and reading strips so that students won't misplace them. The plastic cover sheets are used for phoneme-grapheme mapping during the spelling portion of the lesson. I use the reward stickers when students have success with their coding of words and spelling words. Once they fill their sticker chart I allow them to earn prizes, so these items will be beneficial for my classroom.

Children need to see themselves in books.

They need to see that their stories matter and that they can be authors as children and adults. I would love to add some books that include characters that have dyslexia. My students will be able to relate to the character(s) and get inspired.
