Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Students here are excellent examples of wanting to learn by asking questions and finding answers. Although they are from a Title I school, they do not let any challenge keep them from learning. We have kids who do sports, participate in clubs, and work hard at keeping their grades up. When students need help, they do not shy from asking for it. Being apart of the student learning process has shown me that determination is something these students never let go of.
While working here I have seen great kindness, perseverance, and devotion to achieving goals students set for themselves.
With some students being English Learners, they have a need for visual representations of the things we are learning. With the impact of distant learning, now it the time to step up the teaching game with visuals and models. Zoom allows my teaching to be recorded for students and facilitate the learning process by giving examples they can easily relate to as well as visuals they can utilize. This makes our curriculum more hands on and easier to understand. I love working with these students who make teaching a joy.
My Project
With our current situation causing teachers to create distant learning lessons, I am forced to use my home as a classroom. I hope to use the surface pro to help me make better classroom recordings and a way to build and create new lesson plans to reach my students.
I want to give my students the best classroom experience while teaching from my home.
I have added a couple of labs for my biology class which is getting into natural selection. My Earth science class is exploring concepts from the Earth in soil science and plant growth in different environments.
