My Students

I teach at a Title I school in San Diego and have the opportunity of teaching a very diverse group of students. Throughout the year, we come to consider our classmates friends and family, and our classroom becomes home.

I want my students to know that I not only see their differences and needs, but I understand and accept them as well.

In our class, we spend a lot of time on social emotional learning and becoming compassionate students that can work together. We are constantly exploring different careers and passions to try and figure out what we love. Whether my students choose college, trade school, or the military or go directly into the work force, I want them to know they have a bright future!

My Project

Technology has really made distance learning and teaching possible. During these summer months, companies and teachers have pulled together to create resources and materials that will enhance the experience.

One struggle I still have is over how small our laptops are.

I would like to be able to split my screen into two different monitors so I can see my students while also screen sharing. So much of teaching and assessing for understanding is done through body language and facial expressions, but if I can't see my students while also showing the lesson, then it becomes very difficult to informally assess my students and their understanding.
