Distance Teaching Accessories

My Students

I teach at the same high school from which I graduated 20 years ago. Our school is high poverty, and available funds have gone to supplementing district-provided electronics with headphones that families could otherwise not afford.

Thankfully, our district has chosen to do distance learning, to maintain the safety of our students, staff, and our community.

Unfortunately, we do not have the resources to create teacher setups. The district has promised a stipend, part of which I have already spent on headphones and upgraded Internet access.

My Project

Distance learning will continue in San Francisco until the end of 2020, and for high school, some number of months into 2021.

While my teaching setup is functional, these accessories will take it to the next level.

My laptop is running out of storage space, so an external hard drive will give me more flexibility with my files.

I don't have a document camera, but the camera/phone stand will let me show students things without having to hold them up to my webcam.

My headset microphone is low quality, and students frequently complain, so a lapel mic will improve their experience.

My computer and desk heat up during heavy usage, and the laptop fan will make sure my computer isn't damaged.
