This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Albert Einstein said, “In the midst of every crisis, lies great opportunity.” We should not forget to look at the opportunity in front of us. After my students graduate from high school, they will live in a world that will frequently require them to learn and work online. As an educator I need to provide quality learning instruction online while also providing the possibility for my students to learn necessary skills such as time-management, self-regulation, and organization. For many of my students, this will be their first experience having to manage their own learning in such a way. It is also the first time that they may have had the opportunity to own a computer and have internet access. It is my job to provide a quality online program during this time is supporting my students in developing the skills and habits necessary in order to be successful in the global digital society they will enter as adults.

My Project

I never thought I'd be teaching virtually. This new way of teaching can be isolating and disengaging for students. Sitting in front of a screen for hours watching videos may compel a student to fast forward or even skip a lessons altogether. To keep them engaged, I've had to up my game and ensure equity and accessibility for all students. I have to ensure information is conveyed by text, images, video and audio. Having proper lighting for one one one google meets and a microphone for clear recordings of daily lessons is crucial in this new distance learning environment.
