This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My middle school math students come from many different cultures and backgrounds. Inside the classroom, they are creative, inquisitive, and learn in various ways. They love engaging lessons, hands-on activities, and technology-infused lessons. Every day, they come to school eager to learn and excel. I always look forward to watching them overcoming their various struggles as they progress throughout the school year.
Not only are my students eager learners but they are also very thoughtful and giving.
They help each other through small acts like providing a pencil to a classmate in need, and through great acts of kindness like standing up for a friend that has not been treated fairly. It is a daily pleasure to work with these amazing kids.
Our school is a Title I school which means that there is a large concentration of low-income students. After conducting individual interviews with my students, I have realized that several of them do not have access to technology.
My Project
As students and teachers adapt to the the new normal there are several tech items that are necessary to ensure that students have access to quality lessons and videos. It is not ideal for teachers to have a computer that keeps glitching during class time since it distracts from the lesson.
During distance learning, it is essential that a teacher has a reliable computer to ensure connectivity during Zoom meetings.
Zoom meetings are essential in holding face to face meeting with the class so that students may achieve with a teachers supervision. Quality video and audio will hold their attention while the apps the Mac computer contains will be used to enhance lessons.
