Distance Learning Tools for Summer School and Beyond

Help me give my students an innovative virtual learning experience that will extend the high-quality education that I strive to provide both in and out of the classroom using a new MacBook.

My Students

My students and I are now teaching and learning from our own homes. In addition, I am teaching summer school to at-risk students, and I'm teaching virtually through live-teaching platforms. Many of the devices we are using are not up to date and are unable to run innovative programs to promote student engagement. When we left campus on March 13th, no one knew it would be the last time we would step into the classroom. We certainly did not expect distance learning to continue through summer school. In my classroom and in summer school, I teach at-risk, special needs, and general ed students who struggle to learn in conventional ways.

My Project

For the remainder of this summer, I will be teaching summer school remotely from home to at-risk students who need me the most, and chances are that I will need to teach virtually in some capacity this upcoming school year. This laptop will help me to connect with my students as we learn through Distance Learning. My district-issued device is not able to support the distance learning lessons that I want to give to my students.

Teachers need the right tools in order to connect with students to meet their academic and social-emotional needs during this new way of learning.

This laptop will help me to efficiently prepare lessons, communicate with students and parents, attend virtual meetings, create videos, as well as attend virtual professional development training opportunities. It will also help me in obtaining a virtual learning certification that is needed to teach online with the greatest impact on student learning.
