Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are a wonderful group of third graders who come from different economic backgrounds with over seventy-seven percent receiving free lunch. My students speak a multitude of languages. As diverse as my students are economically and culturally, they are diverse in their academics as well. Our class includes gifted learners, English language learners and students with academic disabilities.
My students are an enthusiastic, eager group of third grade students who come from very diverse and economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
Our school is a Title I school. My students are excited about learning and want to do well. Due to this pandemic, my students are not able to have access to basic materials, books and manipulatives that are provided in our classroom.
My Project
My students are wonderful learners who deserve the best they can get from their teacher. I really need another device as well as a microphone to teach my students through this distance learning platform.
Having the proper teaching equipment to help me teach lessons online will give my students the best opportunity to succeed during this time.
I would benefit from having a microphone, speaker, and an iPad to help me record lessons, read books aloud and demonstrate in my own handwriting the "how to do" for each assignment. I need the correct equipment to help me be a successful online educator. Having a portable desk would help me set up an at home classroom/office setting. The desk would help to set up a document camera and a device so I can write and demonstrate math problems, proper writing structures, and show students step-by-step procedures. Sharing spaces at home can be tricky. Having headphones helps to focus on the screen and space I am teaching in. But, having a speaker and microphone will help me record clearly read alouds and demonstrations on a recorded lesson so more students have access to my lessons when they cannot sign on to live sessions. Having the iPad will allow me to record and edit lessons so they are clear. Also it would help with having a second device so I can see my students on one screen while teaching from the other. Not all students can be seen when I'm sharing my screen.
