My Project
Math is a subject where most work has to be written, not typed. When I use tablets to teach my students how to solve equations or how to simplify expressions, I'm constantly writing down the mathematical expressions using symbols such as radicals, exponents and fractions. These cannot be done by typing. This is why it is ESSENTIAL for all math teachers using technology devices to have an electronic pencil that can be used to write with. I would love to have an Android tablet again so I can help students who reach out to me for help because they are ill, absent for a long period of time, or just unable to get help in person. I teach high school math. Math is a subject that can get extremely difficult if you miss just a few lessons. Everything builds on the previous concept. If they don't understand something, they should have a way of getting it clarified with a teacher before moving on to the next. By having the technology at home to be able to help out students off campus, I would be able to help lots of students stay caught up with their materials. I am also requesting an apple pencil to use with the current iPad that I have loaned from the school so that I have a way of using the iPad as well if more than one student is to be helped at a time. Just to be clear, by having a tablet and a pencil to write with on these tablets, I will be able to provide help virtually for students who have been absent for multiple days due to unfortunate circumstances.
