Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are working at home in tight quarters with their siblings and other family members. Many are stating they do not have simple supplies such as notebooks, pencils, and colors.

I would like to get school supplies in their homes so they can keep creating and completing their distance learning assignments.

When students are able to show what they know, then it is easier for me to gauge their learning from online.

My Project

My students do not have much, if anything at home for distance learning, and to be creative. It would be amazing to provide them and their family with these school supplies to continue their writing, math, and artistic lessons. They need paper, markers, colored pencils, pencils, and other tools to help with schoolwork. There are enough for each student to get 2 snacks and a bottle of water to help them work. We are all saddened that we cannot be together for the remainder of the school year. I have really grown a connection with each of my students and we are missing each other. I want to give my students materials to keep learning going and for them to show me what they understand with the content we have yet to learn through distance learning in second grade.
