My Students

My students with autism are amazing. I am a special day teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district. My students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am trying to provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.

My students are excited to explore and learn to expand their capacity for critical thinking.

They take pride in their efforts and are willing to challenge their minds for the sake of learning.

My Project

Yoga balls will provide the additional support my students with autism need for distance learning. Currently some of my students are having a difficult time sitting on a hard kitchen chair while learning from home. Making sure my students with autism are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating. They almost always make good choices about where they sit, are more engaged, and get more work completed when they have the freedom to bounce a little while working.

My students are noticeably more engaged in their work when they are given an opportunity to move a little while they work.

The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. The yoga balls will allow my students to sit and bounce as needed while learning from home. These will be extremely beneficial for some students that just need to get the wiggles out. They can also be used as an alternative chair if needed! They are lightweight and can be easily used in many areas of my student’s homes.
