This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students attend a Title I school in a high poverty neighborhood. All of my students receive free breakfast and lunch. I have 150 wonderful 6th graders that come into school daily eager to soak up all the knowledge I have to offer like small sponges. They love to read books and write stories. They have a great time each day working in groups and cheering each other to success. They encourage one another to do their best and are excited to be a helping hand when I am helping others. I have parents who are very supportive and strive to make our class collaborative learning environment.

My students love using their creativity to apply the skills they have learned to create visuals to display in the classroom and in the hallway for others to admire.

They strive daily to achieve weekly and monthly academic goals to be the best they can be. With additional resources, I know they will be exemplar students and will be able to compete with the students from any academic background.

My Project

I am requesting a printer, ink, and copy paper to create materials for my students to continue learning while we go through this pandemic together. Many of my students lack the technology resources to continue learning through online apps and programs.

The materials I am requesting will allow me to provide physical assignments and activities to not only my students, but multiple students within our community.

Although the current circumstances have disabled us from learning face to face, I remain passionate about the education of my students and those within my community.
