Distance Learning in Music

Help me give my students resources for distance learning and find some fun and enjoyment in this time of confusion.

My Students

My students are Title I students. They are great students and love learning, especially when it's non-traditional learning. Our school has been focusing on STEM-related learning, with an emphasis on technology and careers, which our students just love, and I try to insert the "A" (which stands for Arts) in STEM. I feel students are more engaged that way and their minds are more open to learning.

My students are very eager to learn when they are engaged with technology.

With the majority of jobs needing coders and computer science majors, I want to expose our students to those careers as our magnet theme emphasis careers and I want to do this through music as well as technology.

Most of my students are neighborhood kids even though we are a magnet school. We are in a high poverty area, and most of my students do not read at home. Even though I am a music teacher, I try and incorporate my love of reading into my class as much as possible.

My Project

I have many students that are at home with so many unanswered questions of what the future will hold. I would like to provide them with some resources to work at home that will give them some sense of security and familiarity.

I would like to be able to buy resources so that their music learning can continue and that they can find some fun and joy in their day where there is so much uncertainty and turmoil.

I want them to remember the fun of music and that we can still feel like a class again.
