This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are from a large, urban community that come from many cultures. I have a very extraordinary blend of linguistic diversity fun and love kids. We are a Title I school in a low-income community; I have thirty-eight English language learners (ENL) in my classroom. My school has a pantry for families in need. Unfortunately, many deliveries haven’t been able to be delivered due to Covid-19.
Remote learning has been a difficult process for my ENL students and families.
Families depend on the pantry to get school supplies. They would benefit from a variety of materials to help increase their success during the new distance learning platform. This presents a challenge, as most of my students do not have access to supplies in their homes. Even though these students are facing hardship, they eager to learn English.
My Project
Please help me give my students learning materials for home and distance learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Students are not able to leave their homes due to the quarantine in New York City.
I tried to teach this morning, and I was heartbroken when I noticed that many of the students did not have notebooks or paper to follow along with my lesson.
All children deserve an equal opportunity to learn regardless of their living conditions or family income. There are a few things that I would like to get them, such as whiteboards, paper, notebooks, crayons, and pencils. These students will be able to utilize these materials with our daily online lessons and Google Meet meetings.
Each kit will have some materials to get them through the rest of the school year and make learning exciting! These materials will be mailed directly to my students' homes. Thank you all in advance.
