Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My Special Education students are generally care free, imaginative and fun-loving kids , however Covid-19 is creating a tremendous daily obstacle for them. They come from low-income households and have not had much experience with the world outside their small community. Many live in small crowded apartments, houses and don't have the proper outlet to explore their surroundings right now. School is their safe place and where they would spend the majority of the day.
Many of my students struggle with staying focused for long periods of time during online learning sessions.
Many depend on directed lessons through Zoom, learning apps, and the few books I gave them from my personal library. Despite the hardships they are facing with school being closed, they are eager learners and have the sweetest smiles every time we log in together for lessons.
My Project
Teachers Pay Teachers is an essential teacher resource that I have used throughout the years. Teachers have already created standards based engaging lessons that we have previously used in the classroom. As I adapt to teaching in a new format it will be essential to now move on to more creative interactive lessons. I will be able to buy resources that will help expand what we have already learned in math, reading, science, and social studies. There are so many resources on Teachers Pay Teachers that can be used now and during the summer time to keep students on track during this crazy time. Some of the materials come in the form of games or task cards that make learning/reviewing fun. I will be able to have my students use these resources digitally or I can print them for the students that need a paper copy. My students will love using the resources that they are familiar with.
