My Students
I have the privilege of teaching 31 amazing fourth graders. My students attend a Title I school and face many hardships. My students, like many others, had to stop attending school and continue their learning via distance learning. It hasn't been easy to adjust, since their world has basically turned upside down.
Even though in person school as concluded for the year, my students are eager to learn through distance learning.
The COVID-19 pandemic has stopped them from attending school physically and has caused them to break out of their daily routines. My goal is to try to bring back some normalcy and routines from our classroom into their lives again.
My Project
I have been extremely fortunate to teach a group of students who love to read. During the school year, my students made huge growth in their reading skills. We always have read a class read aloud and one of their favorites was The One and Only Ivan. I promised them that we would read the sequel, The One and Only Bob, together.
Now that we are doing distance learning, I want to provide my students with a chance to do a virtual book club.
I would love the chance to give them their own copy of this book so they could participate. I have been recording read alouds for them and posting them onto our Google Classroom. I will continue to do this for this book. Every student having a copy will open many discussions during our virtual meetings. The bags are to package the books for distribution.
