This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We anticipate that school will be open in September, but we do not know for sure, so I might have to teach online again. Because of distance learning, students will not be allowed to share supplies for sanitary purposes. If the school is closed and I need to teach online, then students will have to take their own set of supplies home.

In order for each student to have their own set of supplies, I have to buy 10 times the amount as usual.

Instead of buying 30 paint sets of markers, crayons, etc., to use for multiple classes, I will have to buy 1 set of everything needed for art class for each of my 350 students. My students live in a poverty-stricken neighborhood and can't afford to buy their own supplies. Art supplies are expensive and I am only given $2 per student a year. There is no way that our school can afford everything they need.

My Project

Last school year I tried to teach art online to students that did not have art supplies. It was very difficult. Some students only had pencils and/or crayons, some only had scissors, a few only had a ball point pen.

I would like to put together a bag of art supplies for each student to use at home.

This year we were told that even if school is open, students would not be allowed to share supplies. I would like them to have their own supplies ready for them when they come to the Art room. Also, each student will have their own supplies to take home if we have to do online learning.
