My Students
I love the fact that my students are eager to learn!
Despite the fact that this pandemic has shattered the lives of millions and weakened the homes of thousands, my students still deserve a quality education!
Although they face the possibility of beginning the school year virtually, they eagerly await the opportunity for the commencement of school. They’re like little sponges, waiting to absorb every and anything that I have to offer, hoping that their learning experience would be an enjoyable and rewarding one.
I am a teacher in a low-income/high-poverty school district, with close to 100% of our students receiving free or reduced-price lunch and about 20% living in one of the four shelters around our school, I would like my students to experience learning in an enjoyable environment. My students may forget what I say on a regular basis, but they’ll never forget how I make them feel!
My Project
This project will help me create a space in my home that is not only print rich with anchor charts and various visual aids, but one that is conducive to enriching my students' learning experiences. My overall goal is to create a classroom setting away from what my students and I "normally call school", that will assist me with my day-to-day delivery of reading and math instruction, and make my students' learning experiences more meaningful. More importantly, the materials that I am asking for will keep my students engaged and assist me with creating visuals that will assist them when grasping new concepts.
Because I am working with a very diverse population with various needs, these supplies will assist me with the delivery of instruction while meeting the needs of their various learning styles.
Being able to have a portable dry erase board, chart paper, and markers, will make learning from home more practical and "real-like", which will also allow continuous opportunities for me to model what is expected. I will be able to model appropriate writing, show them how to solve mathematical problems, and provide additional visual aids that will help my students grasp various concepts without feeling frustrated throughout the process.
