Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are generally care free, imaginative and fun-loving kids , however Covid-19 is creating a tremendous daily obstacle for them. They come from low-income households and have not had much experience with the world outside their small community. Many live in small crowded apartments, houses and don't have the proper outlet to explore their surroundings right now.

Many of my students struggle with staying focused for long periods of time during online learning sessions.

Many depend on directed lessons through Zoom, learning apps, and the few books they have at home. Despite the hardships they are facing with school being closed, they are eager learners and have the sweetest smiles every time we log in together for lessons.

My Project

Due to my students' disabilities, they face many obstacles daily, including communicating, daily life skills, understanding the world around them, and dealing with many emotions throughout the day.

My students are all currently isolated at home, most do not go outside due to not having backyards or living in crowded areas.

Since they spend the majority of their day isolated at home, my students engage in online tasks for academic instruction which includes Google classroom, Zoom learning sessions with me which they love participating in with the little resources they have at home. My students will be able to share their ideas through art. They will be able to share their emotions through weekly art lessons.
