My Students

You can help make dissecting frogs in my classroom more organized for me and for my seventh graders! Kids love hands on learning, but the right materials for labs can make a big difference in how well the lesson goes. My class would benefit from new dissection kits.

In my five years of teaching science and health, I definitely see this- and this is why I love teaching so much! Nothing makes me happier than motivating kids to want to learn by providing them with engaging lessons.

My Project

Last year, I did frog dissections with all my classes for the first time. I was surprised at how great this lab went! I wish I had done this every year. The kids were so engaged and engrossed in this anatomy lab. Many kids told me personally, "Ms. H this it the best lesson ever! Thank you for letting us do this!" (They knew it was my first time doing this lab). Even the students who normally didn't perform well in my class were looking like surgeons and were so focused as the carefully cut as to not damage the internal organs. I was really impressed with all my periods. Not only were they engaged, but they were also very well behaved. The only thing that could have been better was the dissection kits - they belonged to the school science department and were very old. Many were missing scalpels, an important tool in the frog dissections! So some groups had to use scissors but they didn't work as well, so they had to wait for other groups to finish and borrow their scalpels.

So please, if you will help me fund this project.

I will be very grateful. The dissection kits will be very useful in this lab for years to come, and the timer will be helpful in managing and timing many activities, not just this one. Thank you for your time.
