My students need dissection specimens for PLTW Human Body Systems course to provide the hands-on learning environmental essential to learning and engagement.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have wonderful students who want to learn and thrive in a hands-on environment. The majority of my students come from low income families and have troubled home lives. They love coming to my class and I love sharing science and medicine with them to get them excited about the possibility of a future. Many of my students will continue to pursue careers in the medical field with great success.
I am blessed to teach such motivated and talented young people who are the future of medicine.
I look forward to watching them grow and learn each and every day.
My Project
All students love hands-on activities! In PLTW's Human Body Systems, students create the muscles, organs and bones of a human body while exploring how the human body functions. My students will be able to explore how the heart functions by dissecting a sheep heart! They will investigate the structure and function of the kidneys by dissecting a pig kidney! They will then get a closer look at how the brain operates by dissecting a sheep brain! There's no better way to learn anatomy!
These dissection labs allow students to make a deeper connection to the curriculum as well as engage long-term memory by utilizing a hands-on approach.
By funding STEM learning, you are funding our future science and technology experts!
