My second-grade classroom is transforming from a traditional classroom of instruction to a technology-infused classroom of collaboration and exploration.
At my school, students have a passion for learning, contributing to their school community, and solving real-world problems.
All of our school's students are eager to learn and have great potential. Our students deserve to learn skills that they can apply in their technology-rich futures and careers. I feel that providing opportunities for students to work with age-appropriate technology helps our students become better learners and gives them the foundations for a tech-infused future.
My Project
This year, my students began exploring the benefits of pollinators such as "scary" bees and other insects. Many of the resources we use are teacher created as we adapt this new unit to our students needs.
My students study different types of resources to build their understanding, and empathy for these bugs.
To make this study even richer, my students need a Dymo thermal printer to create labels for students categorize different pollinators and these bugs body parts. The easy use and quick printing of the Dymo printer will allow all of my students to display their complete knowledge of pollinators.
The Dymo labels will also be utilized to create a custom classroom "pollinators in paradise" image. Students will explore the needs and preferences of pollinators. They will create their own "pollinator bug" and add it to an image that will depict how their pollinator fits into a pretend ecosystem.
With a Dymo printer, my students will be able to take their exploration of pollinators and insects to a deeper understanding.
