Help me give my students bullfrogs to dissect for a comparative anatomy study, which will help them appreciate and understand the physiology and complexity within the animal kingdom.
All my students love to learn through hands-on labs in science. I feel this has been the most effective way to teach all my science students, especially my Living Environment Regents students who have been asking me if we would be able to dissect a frog to meet the criteria needed to take the exam. This is the one lab they truly want to do. I would love to be able to provide this experience for them before they graduate so they can appreciate the complexity of how a living organism is designed and the physiology of how these organs function together to sustain life.
Students will be able to synthesize what they have learned in class and apply this knowledge learned about the anatomy of a living organism throughout their dissection experience.
They will be able to explore the organs of a frog and compare and contrast them to the human anatomy by observing and discussing their findings with their dissection group, and during whole class discussions. It would be a memorable experience for all and could be the platform that ignites their passion and curiosity to pursue a future career in science.
