Dissecting Diversity: Exploring Life Through Hands-On Science

Help me give my students double-injected frogs and a preserved specimen kit so they can explore the diversity of life through hands-on dissection and deepen their understanding of anatomy and evolution.

My Project

My students are curious, hands-on learners who thrive when they can explore science in a meaningful, engaging way. Many are multilingual, and some are new to the United States. For all of them, hands-on labs make science more accessible, visual, and exciting.

I’m requesting two key resources to bring our AP Biology curriculum to life: double-injected frogs and an animal diversity set for AP Biology.

The frogs have arteries and veins injected with red and blue dye, making it easier for students to see the circulatory system. This helps them better understand complex anatomical systems through direct observation.

The animal diversity set for AP Biology includes 13 preserved specimens representing major groups of the animal kingdom. By comparing body structures across phyla, students will explore evolutionary relationships and gain a deeper understanding of biodiversity and adaptation, key themes in AP Biology.

My goal is to give all students, regardless of background or prior experience, access to meaningful, college-level lab experiences. These dissections will deepen their understanding of anatomy, foster collaboration, and build the kind of curiosity and critical thinking that science demands.

What makes my students special is their resilience, drive, and love of learning. Your support will provide them with opportunities to explore real-world biology in a way that textbooks alone cannot offer.
