My Project
In our small class we have children from 12 countries. Most have been displaced from their home countries and are seeking a better life in our country. Since none of the educators in my room speak Spanish, any bilingual resources would be amazing.
I also want to teach the other children in my room to respect children’s diverse worlds, and reflect and consider consequences for others and name and challenge unfair acts, and discrimination on behalf of themselves and others.
The resources I am requesting are dual language and social/emotional resources to help all children express a wide range of emotions, thoughts and views constructively. My goals are for the children in my room to:
• help and offer care to other children
• recognize and name a range of feelings in themselves and others
• begin to recognize there is a diversity of cultures, traditions and family structures
• begin to recognize that they have a right to belong and contribute to many communities
• take action to include and assist children to participate in social groups
• broaden their understanding of the world in which they live
• express an opinion
I will work individually, with the children who need the extra support and also work in small and large groups. The rhymes and stories will be out in the room at all times. The fidgets and floor tile will be out in the safe place to help the children learn to self-regulate.
