My Students
Animal habitats are being destroyed all over the world due to natural disasters. My students would love to research about these habitats to see how they can help make a real world difference.
My students love to learn and research new things.
They especially love learning about the world and ways they can make a difference. They attend a school where the teachers and atmosphere is a welcoming one. They enjoy coming to school and are rarely absent because they love learning and care about their education.
My Project
I am requesting an iPad mini tablet, screen and case protectors and eBooks to use on the tablet. I plan to have my students use the iPad mini for both research through eBooks and the Internet. They will be researching all about places around the world that have been impacted by natural disasters. Making sure to align with Third Grade curriculum I hope to have them focus on areas such as Asia, Africa, Europe, and South America. Students will compare animal habitats close to home impacted by hurricanes and blizzards in New York City. As a culminating project, I plan to use the iPad mini as a recording tool to video tape my students giving speeches. Their speeches will be on the topic of making a difference for animal habitats destroyed during hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, tsunamis, blizzards, and other natural disasters.
This project is important to me because I want my third graders to take away the knowledge of how to make an impact on the world.
I want my students to realize they have the power to do great things and can make a real world difference if they speak up and work to change things. I know many of my students are not aware of natural disasters around the world, and I hope to give them strong content knowledge that they can keep with them forever.
