Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a Title I school of 475 students located in Los Angeles, California. We are a school for advanced studies, meaning we have a special program for our students who are identified as high achieving or intellectually gifted. We are a diverse group representing many different cultural backgrounds and languages. What do we all have in common? The love of learning! We love to think, design, create, perform, and explore the possibilities!
Our third, fourth and fifth grade students are so excited to be part of Disney Musicals in Schools this year.
My Project
Our students are fortunate to be part of Disney Musicals in Schools. This is our second year in the program and this year we are producing The Jungle Book. We need stage lighting, costumes and props to make our show a success.
We have already started rehearsals and our students are excited and eager to perform.
During our twice a week after school rehearsals our students are already showing their hard work and dedication. Through this program our students are gaining self confidence through performing arts and creative expression. Participation in this collaborative project gives our students important life skills such as communication, social skills and leadership opportunities. We will be presenting our show at the end of March and beginning of April. Please consider helping us out with this worthwhile endeavor.
