Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

When students have a reading buddy, they can practice reading their written story out loud to that buddy.

Reading Buddies help encourage children to read by simply being present as a listening ear or by serving as a routine reminder: “Go get your Buddy, it’s time to read!” Buddies love to listen to stories!

Reading Buddies are also a great way for children to work on their self-regulation skills as reading to or holding a Buddy during story time is a great way to calm down or relax. They will be very exited to have a reading buddy during independent practice.

The buddies are small and will be able to be transported around the room in a buddy house. The Buddy house can sit on the desk, visit stations with the student and possibly go to other parts of the building. Each week the students will choose a new buddy to take on adventures with.
