Peter Hobart is a Title 1 K-5 Elementary school in St. Louis Park MN. We have 500+ students representing multiple racial, lingual, and religious backgrounds. Our school strives to enhance and energize the spirits of all of our students through after school programming. Our school has been chosen through a grant with Hennepin Theater Trust to participate in Disney Musicals in Schools for after school. Our hope is to provide a unique opportunity for our students to engage with an authentic Musical Theater experience.
Disney Musicals in Schools is a program that develops sustainable musical theater programs in public elementary schools.
Using the unique world of musical theater, Disney Musicals in Schools helps foster positive relationships between students, faculty, staff, parents and the community. Students and teachers work in teams, developing the wide spectrum of skills needed when producing a piece of musical theater, including critical thinking, problem-solving, ensemble building, communication, self-confidence, and interpersonal skills.
Lions, Tigers, and Bears - Oh My! These arts and crafts materials will be used to transform our students into jungle animals for the cast of The Jungle Book. We will use these materials for costumes, props, and sets.
Students will work with the production crew to design, craft, and create their own costumes and sets.
The Jungle Book cast is very large; we will need costumes for a variety of animals and many students. Additionally, our school stage will be transformed into a green and luscious rainforest!
The materials on our Donors Choose list will help us make this production look professional and ready for our community performances!
