My Students

The "King of New York" has got nothing on the king and queens ready to film in California!

Our students are beginning, intermediate, and advanced theatre arts students studying the acting process.

At this time they are studying the auditioning process. These students enjoy performing and rarely have the opportunity to combine 21st century technology skills (as outlined in the new Common Core state standards) and the arts. Students will have the ability to share the outcome (their filmed projects) with parents and school mates, and keep forever via the web once uploaded to our class website.

My Project

Our students have been studying the auditioning process. This potential project will allow for all students in the theatre arts to record self scripted audition scene episodes. For learning purposes, the three camcorders and tripod that we are requesting will provide students with the opportunity to create, perform, assess, and evaluate performance. California State Standards: 2.0 Creative Expression will be achievable through the fulfillment of these requested items. Those standards include: 2.1 Make acting choices, using script analysis, character research, reflection, and revision through the rehearsal process. 2.2 Write dialogues and scenes, applying basic dramatic structure: exposition, complication, conflict, crises, climax, and resolution. 2.3 Design, produce, or perform scenes from a variety of theatrical periods and styles, including contemporary realism. Career & Related Skills: 5.2 Manage time, prioritize responsibilities, and meet completion deadlines for a production.

This project will allow those students who are more comfortable performing in smaller groups the opportunity to share their talents in a less threatening environment (as opposed to on the stage in front of live audiences).

However, their talents will still reach larger audiences and will be easily shared with parents and administration.
