Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The Disney Environmental Challenge is a great way to teach my students about the environment. We are studying ways to improve the world around us. I take my kids on environmental trips once a month to explore different animal habitats and conservations to see how animals live in their habitats.
Through the Disney Challenge I will show my kids that we can do so much to change our environment for the better.
Exploring animals habitats and learning how to help the animals can help them learn about the changes in our environment while we are among the environment.
These explorations provide a place where we can learn about the world around us through experiments, and observation. Then we can transfer our data and observation and pictures in the classroom continue to research using technology.
My students are amazing.
I am a third grade teacher, in a CTT class, so I work with a co-teacher and have both general education as well as special education students. Most of our students are low income students who get reduced and free lunches. Our school is in a low income area and is largely populated by ESL students.
Our students range in levels from the most struggling to the highest achieving. They are supportive of one another and are always looking to better themselves.
My Project
We need more technology in our classrooms and for students to have access to that technology. By having handheld tablets that are portable to allow students to have access to the internet, be able to look up information, write notes quickly, and share their ideas with each other more efficiently about their observations and finding about our environmental trip .
Technology is so important in our world today.
