In my classroom we are a very diverse family and my main goal is to teach them to be self sufficient. They are taught basic life skills. They are also taught about acceptance of others and to love everyone. This year I have four students who came to me from Hispanic families that speak only Spanish and one who speaks only Chinese. They are very quick learners and already have an extensive English vocabulary. I also have students with disabilities and I am teaching the other students that although we may all be different, we are all friends and we care for one another. We enjoy special projects and field trips but funds are always low.
My Project
I would love to give our discovery table an upgrade and be able to add some fun and educational items to the mix. I have this table open everyday and change it our about once a week so I strain coming up with new and exciting ideas. For the last 2 years, 3/4 of my class are males and I have realized that I need more male items. Of course they all play with all items but I don't have many cars, trucks, and dinosaurs so I need to add more to the room and this is the perfect place to add them.
