My Project
My students at Honouliuli Middle School are special because of the wide range of backgrounds they all posses. There are a number of students who have moved from different states, students who have lived on Oahu their entire lives, and students who are born of Hawaiian ancestry. Middle school is a confusing time in their lives because of how their brains are developing and figuring out their identity is one of those things they are confused about.
This project "Discovering Your Story" will guide my 6th grade students to discover who they are in my ELA class.
They will use their writing and reading skills to find comfort in who they are as a person especially during this important developmental period in their lives. There will be opportunities for the students to create the physical embodiment of who they are as a person as well as who they want to be through the various activities and assignments in this class.
The laminator and book spiral binders will provide the opportunity for my students to create a book of their journey through 6th grade as they discover who they are. The posters will help remind the students what their writing should include and look like. All the markers and color pencils will be used to create supplementary pages and designs in their books.
