My Project

I teach kids with Autism and they are wonderful, but many of them lack appropriate social skills and imaginative play skills. These items would help me teach my students how to interact with their peers in class, but also peers in the general education setting. My students would work on learning the rules of a game, turn taking, being a good sport, and waiting their turn. In learning these skills, they would also be able to work on improving communication skills by using full sentences to tell a peer it is their turn or to congratulate them on doing well. Many of these skills will be generalized to other settings. These skills can, sometimes, be challenging for them to learn, so using fun, interactive games will help teach these skills in a way that they will be more engaged.
