This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The students in my classroom are Specific Learning Disabled and Emotionally Behaviorally Disturbed (ESE). The school they attend is located in a low-socio-economic area. Thus, the school is not sufficiently equipped with working up to date computers. The computers within the school run extremely slow or do not work at all. Three of the donated computers are no longer working! Only two of the students in my class have a computer in the home. So they fight to share previously donated computers.
My students desire to use technology in the classroom.
I would like to see my students be able to access online texts and communicate locally and globally on the super information highway. "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." - Mandela
My Project
The materials requested will aid students in completing classwork, research projects and other fun activities. My students need an iPad and an Apple pencil to add to the technology center as well as a writing and drawing tool to help with geometry, science and social studies, and printer ink for classwork and projects.
Students in my classroom have behavior challenges and social skills deficits.
They will use technology as a part of the reward system. They curb negative behavior when computer time is given as a reward. The majority do not have technology within the home and fight to use tech within the classroom. Some come before school and stay after school to complete classwork and special projects.
