This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

With your help, I can provide engaging chapter books to support all learners in my room to grow as readers. I want students to find joy in reading. Students will be given opportunities to read with each other, share their thoughts and ideas as they read, and write thoughtful comparison essays they can share with the class. The shelves and book organizer will support the organization and help students take care of the books so students can enjoy them for years to come. Literacy is connected to all other content areas. Students practice reading to grow as readers, and peer discussions will help support comprehension and build a student’s understanding of their peer’s experiences and thoughts.
