This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The students of the band are a bright, kind, and caring group of students. But living in the heart of Little Havana means that the necessary materials for creating music can be prohibitively expensive. We are slowly bringing back the equipment they need to thrive, but something still missing is quality director’s keyboard to improve rehearsals. Currently, I use a small electronic keyboard with a broken low D key and a floppy disk drive. Enter the Harmony Director. This 79-key keyboard is a highly versatile workstation used by music teachers worldwide with tools for tuning, metronome control, transposition, temperament, and even recording/playback. It is an incredibly powerful rehearsal device that has been sorely missing from the music classroom.
This project will help supply the band with a Yamaha HD-300 Harmony Director, as well as the caster wheels to make transporting of our heavy percussion rack easier.
