My Students

My second grade class consists of 19 students, some of whom are considered special needs students. Although I have students who are not considered English Language Learners, I do have many students who are bilingual. My students demonstrate the passion, empathy, and perseverance to be leaders and make a positive impact in the community. They realize positive work ethic leads to a successful future but hard work does not come easy.

During this pandemic, I have the opportunity to make a difference in their lives, but more importantly to provide them the opportunity to better themselves by providing them with the tools and knowledge to be the best they can be.

The exchange of dialogue between a teacher and student or the students themselves is a very powerful tool. In this class every student is given the opportunity to learn from each other and inspire others through their words and positive actions.

My Project

These art materials will give all my students the opportunity to express their imagination and creativity through watercolor and printmaking activities. Students will immerse themselves in the study of various artists such as Vincent van Gogh and Pablo Picasso and the techniques used by these artists. By studying these artists and their artwork, students can learn about line, shape, color, texture, space, value, and form. They will also learn the effectiveness of each of those elements when applied to their own artwork.

By donating to our project, students will create their own works of art, effectively incorporating the art elements, thus gaining a deeper understanding and appreciation for art.

As students finish their artwork, the drying rack will be most helpful in storing and drying their works of art. The foam boards will be used to etch a picture and then pressed onto paper, allowing for the effects of printmaking to take place. The students' artwork will be mounted in the frames and displayed at our annual Fine Arts Festival for parents to view.

As our lives become more dependent on technology, let us not forget that art brings out the creativity and imagination in all of us.
