Help me give my students fossil kits to be able to become a hands-on paleontologist. With your help, these kits will be able to go to each third grader in our school! Ready, set, explore!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students walk into class every day full of wonder, full of energy, and full of resilience. Each day in the classroom is a chance to shine and start fresh no matter what outside distractions may await them at home or in their community. I want them to know I believe in them and they can do anything.
I teach at a Title I school in Massachusetts, where 61% percent of our students are considered economically disadvantaged.
A handful of students receive food for the weekend and we have Catie's Closet on hand for students that need clothing. We have students from a variety of backgrounds. We have students that have just arrived in the United States, special education students, students with visual and auditory deficits, and students with trauma. My students are so much more than these descriptions. These amazing kids just want a chance, a glimpse into a future where they are allowed to dream big!
My Project
This year has been a tidal wave of new adventures and valleys. I would love to be able to provide my third graders with a fantastic hands-on moment, one they will hopefully not forget. Fossil kits are a great way to really see what it is like to uncover a new discovery.
To be able to uncover your very own fossil will hopefully ignite a love of science curiosity in our third grade students, even if they are at home.
This experience will hopefully be able to create excitement and a shared experience that many students are desperately trying to find. Please consider helping to fill the buckets of a deserving group of awesome kids. Thank you!
