This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My class consists of 50% girls and 50% boys. They are mostly from Hispanic and Black ethnic groups and lower-income communities. There is a zeal for learning despite the circumstances that they are faced with. Some have emotional, social and academic circumstances that are limiting. The ESL and students with special academic needs receive services in order to assist them in the learning process.
These students need to be prepared to compete in an ever-changing world that is technology driven and requires individuals who can represent any organization with dignity.
They want to be successful and are challenged to be successful.
My Project
So much can be achieved with the availability of these laptop computers in my classroom. Currently my students' only exposure to computers in the school day is limited to their 45 minutes in the computer lab twice per week. It would be my greatest desire for this to be increased to daily productive contact.
My students are overflowing with a desire to interact with technology as they learn and create each day.
Lessons can be made more interactive and the students' products can be more technology centered. Coding, creating websites and videos are a few of the activities that my students can engage in with the addition of computers to the classroom.
We are excited about the possibilities that this opportunity will offer.
