Digitizing Math & Creating Portfolios for the Future
My students need a great scanner to digitize all the work in the class. We are moving into an age where we can work digitally and create digital portfolios.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are honors level students in a low-income area who are working hard, some very hard with jobs and more, to make better lives for themselves and get into a good college. They are hardworking, compassionate, and determined.
Many come from a disadvantaged background, with a 65% economic disadvantage; there are students who will be the first in their family to go to college.
They know this and every day to them is a day to improve their lives and the lives of those they love.
My Project
We started this year with submitting all of the homework and projects online in a school platform. The goal was to create digital copies of all student work in order to help them create portfolios. These portfolios range in scope to creating future resumes, building mathematical projects that can be used for applications, and even self-reflection over progress. It became hard for some students to upload their work, as many do not have the technology to do so, and it became very time consuming as I've been scanning a lot of the work with my iPad, the only thing I have to scan. As the year has progressed, everyone has recognized a need for a super awesome scanner that can help us work towards our goal. There are so many uses for a scanner that I do not have room to list. However, here are some of the ways we plan on using the scanner:
Scanning homework/quizzes/tests (when we scan the work we have a record of it and an unblemished physical copy, students can use the physical copy to correct).
Scanning projects (students can create projects and demonstrations by hand and then scan the documents/drawings versus trying to always create digital examples. Sometimes hand drawing is the best).
Creating portfolios (in my Advisory class, a class to help for college success, we can create digital portfolios that can be used for future applications)
And most importantly, all work is saved. Work cannot be lost, misplaced, or destroyed. Students will have 24/7 access to all of their previous work to study from, correct, and look back on throughout high school and college.
More than half of students from low‑income households
