This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach reading in the third largest school district in Pennsylvania. Our district serves primarily low income students from a variety of backgrounds and cultures. The students directly benefiting from this are freshmen who are not able to read at a high school level, or English Language Learners who need more practice with reading and reading skills in English.

My students come from numerous countries and bring with them unique challenges as well as wonderful backgrounds and ideas from different cultures.

All of my students are very eager to learn more about life in America and to assimilate into American culture so they can be successful as they work towards educational success.

My Project

My students are learning how to properly organize and digitize archives using the over 150 years of school archives including transcripts, newspapers, photos, sport records, and yearbooks.

My students are in the process of properly organizing and cataloging our various artifacts and would like to purchase scanners to scan everything in order to create a digital database that can be accessed by the community and alumni.

The scanners requested will allow my students to digitally scan every artifact and upload them to a searchable database. This database will be attached to the school district website for future generations to access.
