Our students range from 14-18 and many are learning English as a second language. Everyday, teen moms & babies come to school. Young women can start at our school while they are expecting & continue after their baby is born. Students continue with their academic education as well as learning parenting skills, healthy baby strategies and useful community resources (including jobs & money management).
Our students have very busy lives filled with school, homework, jobs and family responsibilities of caring full-time for an infant!
When they come to school, they are eager to learn both academic work and parenting skills.
Our library includes books & electronic resources for academics, as well as pleasure reading, & a maker space. We established our school library in 2014. Besides research and reading, the school library is collaborating with the science & math teachers to bring new, exciting technology to our students.
My Project
Our students will use the digital microscopes to examine, compare & record findings online. Images can be saved or printed allowing for close examination. Also, images seen through a digital microscope let students in various locations examine the image at the same time on computer screens. The entire class can view a specimen when the camera is hooked up to a computer & data projector. All the students get to see the same specimen. They can also save images & measure changes over time.
Student leaders will learn to use the cricut machines & develop guidelines & step by step instructions.
With the cricut machine, students can create paper, leather, wood & fabric designs using wireless technology. Students will learn to use the mode & function buttons for many creative projects.
